Practice certainly makes something

Today was way too glorious... so I finally got out to do some wildlife sketching... unfortunately being out of practice, they really aren't worth posting up here, but just need a bit more practice... also first time using watercolour pencil crayons... I like the results, but again I need way more practice with them...

also tried my hand at a couple more building gestures... its been tricky trying to amalgamate the quick lines with perspective practices... but think I'm starting to get the hang of it...

hey, its me

Ok, quick little post here... Finally finished up the last assignment for school... its my second attempt at a self portrait using tonal values... the first one I did ended up all bug eyed like an anime character, and shall never see the light of day again... this one I just ended up looking a bit like a convict, which is apparently what the school was looking for (seriously, the previous years looked like murders)

also figured I'd post a few old paintings/digital paintings from the project... and by the end of the month I'll post the first page from the project... promise

to be, Weekly Edition

Right, so meant to post these pictures up last night, but went out and caught Duska with a friend... it was interesting, but has some major flaws in the narrative/pacing...

anyways, these are just a few more subway sketches....

I pretty much go out subway sketching every Sunday (least during the summer) so this will likely become a weekly update... along with my Thursday life drawing session

a couple of quick full body gestures with a mechanical pencil... think they turned out well... just gotta try to get out to some sports practices for more active poses...

ok.. this last one is my first attempt at building gesture in a long time... think I'm gunna need some more practice...

As Promised

I'll kick this off with a little life drawing... No real textbook exercises, these drawings are a combination of contour lines and weight/tonal studies...

figured I'd better post a couple of my subway sketches again... finally able to get out to a bar to do a couple of them far more interesting/active poses then sleepy people on the TTC...

Finally here is what has been keeping me busy... Please keep in mind that these are not the finished panels, there is no dialog/sound effects yet... hence the photograph instead of being properly scanned... I'm work hard on the first few pages, and hopefully be able to preview the first page later this week...

Now with Updates!!

Right, so I completely fell off track of updating this site... my bad... but that's gonna change... I will be updating this site several times a week (I hope) with any and all random artwork/sketches I've been producing...

so to kick off this occasion I've completed a painting inspired by a wonderful short story ... its pushing the length of a 'short' story, but a recommended read, and I know that author is always looking for constructive criticism.

next is a couple of colour theory paintings I completed for class.. abstract painting, but they are just a utility for the colour theory

ok, funny thing... that circle is supposed to be orange... but turned out... different...

and finally an introduction to my main project... I've post some perspective work from this project before, but hopefully with this extra free time I'll be able to get a few pages of the project completed... but till then here's a little sample (also a colour theory exercise)

more to come very shortly... (seriously, I just need to scan it)
be sure to have a good one till then....
