Right... not much to this post... more gestures... and a couple of modeled exercises... a modeled drawing is basically a description of a 3d form on a 2d space using tonal values... its tougher then it sounds... and these ones aren't the most successful pieces...
and a close up of his shoulder
and finally a longer head/shoulder study (20 minutes)... the proportions are way off on this one... but I was focusing on the underlying features and the shadowing tones

I'll provide the perspective
Right, so here's another little update... I've been getting destroyed by homework this past week... There is a light at the end of the tunnel with work week just around the corner, but that light just seems to be more work in disguise... should be a fun week...
anyways, here's a little perspective work... I've been grappling with the organic shapes in perspective, but think I've finally gotten the hang of it...
and this last one is just an introduction to 3 point perspective... expect alot more in this style (yet another thing to be done over work week)
oh, and I finally got a scanner (even if it is from the 80s)... so I should be posting up some of my sketch work/subway portraits before too long...

Work Week Bound....
So, homework has been getting out of hand lately... spent 7 hours yesterday on gouache paintings... and looking forward to spending several hours on perspective tomorrow... but for right now, its portfolio review time... and apparently my gestures are doing alright... just to need to work on where to place the emphasis... but here's a couple from today...
The other portfolio review that I've had is from P.O.D. (principles of drawing), which didn't go so well... apparently I'm heading for a 'low pass'...
This handbag is the largest project that we've done so far this term... the first drawing is a planar analysis of the bag, followed by a full tonal study using cross hatching (without crossing the hatches, kinda confusing huh?)
Sorry about the poor image quality... still working on getting a scanner/learning how to photograph my work properly... once I do, I'll post some of my subway sketching/quick portraiture...

I have Cerulean Blue veins
Right, a couple of little homework paintings to put up here... first one speaks for itself... and if you don't understand the language, then you certainly arn't pro enough...
We upgraded to full colour, so here is a terrible (but quick) rendition of a goblet 'O' 25 year old wine...
In life drawing, we've been doing a 5 hour Blind Contour Drawing... which is a exercise in tedium, but I've been enjoying how its turned out... this is after roughly 3 hours of drawing...
and finish off with an old facial gesture of some old guy from my class (but seriously, he's a great artist)
